In Stage 2 – PU-DAT Examination, applicants appear for the entrance assessment on their selected exam date, which includes MCQ and subjective sections along with a portfolio upload to evaluate creative thinking, observation, and design approach.

In Stage 3 – Provisional Admission & Personal Interaction, shortlisted candidates are invited for a personal interaction based on their performance in the entrance examination, where their ideas, intent, and creative orientation are further assessed, followed by provisional admission offers along with scholarship details wherever applicable.

PU-DAT Exam Format – Total 200 Marks

The PU-DAT examination is the mandatory entrance test for admission into all design programs at Parul Institute of Design. The assessment is designed to evaluate a student’s aptitude, creativity, visual understanding, and overall design potential through three structured components, carrying a total of 200 marks.

1. MCQ Section – 40 Marks
The first section consists of 40 multiple-choice questions, with each question carrying one mark. This part of the examination focuses on assessing visual aptitude, observation skills, design awareness, analytical thinking, and creative reasoning. It helps understand how students interpret visual information, identify patterns, and respond to problemsolving situations within a design context.

2. Subjective Section – 60 Marks
The subjective section evaluates a student’s ability to think conceptually and express ideas visually. It is divided into three questions: Question 1 carries 10 marks, Question 2 carries 20 marks, and Question 3 carries 30 marks. This section generally includes exercises related to drawing, idea generation, imagination, storytelling, concept development, and design-based problem solving, allowing applicants to demonstrate
originality and depth of thought.

3. Portfolio Submission – 100 Marks
The portfolio forms the most significant component of the evaluation and carries 100 marks. Students are expected to submit creative work that may include sketches, illustrations, digital work, photography, models, craft explorations, visual storytelling, or any original design projects. The evaluation is based on creativity, originality, presentation, process understanding, and the ability to communicate ideas effectively through visual work.
