Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE)

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), an Institution of Eminence Deemed to be University, is a self-financing higher educational institution that started its operations in 1953 by establishing the first self-financing medical college as Public Private collaboration model. Over the years various institutions have been added and finally, in June 1993, this group of institutions have been declared as a Deemed to be University by the Govt. of India. Its excellent track record in academics, infrastructure, and research contributions and its standing in the national and international rankings, culminated in it being declared as an Institution of Eminence Deemed to be University (IoE) by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, in October 2020.

The MAHE has off-campuses in Mangaluru, Bengaluru, and Jamshedpur and an off-shore campus in Dubai (UAE). The Mangaluru campus offers Medical and Dental programmes. The Bengaluru campus offers programmes in Regenerative Medicine, Engineering, Art & Design, Humanities, Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, Law, and Management. The Dubai campus offers programmes in Engineering, Management, Architecture, Information Sciences, Media Communication, etc.

Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology (SMI)—formerly known as Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology—has pioneered transdisciplinary art and design pedagogy for nearly three decades. Srishti educates artists, designers and practitioners with an aim to inspire and encourage creativity. Integrating practice, performance, research and experimental pedagogy has enabled Srishti students always to remain ahead of the curve.

SMI offers a unique practice-based approach that blends design thinking, problem-solving, project-oriented, and place-based learning with new digital technologies. Students of Srishti collaborate and intern with a large variety of industries during their education, with art and design contexts in India and around the globe, with international companies, and also within urban and rural localities to understand one’s role in improving the social conditions of life. M. Des

The Postgraduate Professional Program in Design at Srishti Manipal is a program specifically designed for graduates or experienced professionals who wish to extend and enhance their design knowledge and practice. The program is driven by an interdisciplinary engagement with theories, methodologies and advanced skills of design thinking and doing.

The engagement is divided into two phases. The first year focuses on understanding and appreciating the design thinking theories, methodologies and advanced skills. And the second year focuses on applying the understanding to drive a reflective inquiry into complex real-world contexts.

The Postgraduate Professional Program in Design thereby offers a unique opportunity to chart a new direction in one’s creative practice towards contributing to knowledge creation and expansion going beyond the traditional skill-based design roles.
